Q: What if I’m unsure which therapist is the best fit for me? A: It’s completely normal to feel uncertain when choosing a therapist. If you’re not sure who to book with, we’re happy to guide you based on your needs, preferences, and goals. You’re welcome to switch therapists within the practice if it doesn’t feel like the right match — the therapeutic relationship is important, and we want you to feel supported every step of the way.

Q: I’ve never been to therapy before...what if I don’t know what to talk about? A: Many people feel this way at first. There is no “right way” to begin therapy. Your therapist will gently guide the conversation, get to know what’s bringing you in, and move at a pace that feels safe for you. Showing up is enough, and we’ll take it from there together.

Q: What does “integrative therapy” mean at Elements Therapy Group? A: To us, integrative care means we take the time to understand you as a whole person. We explore your experiences, identity, relationships, and what feels meaningful. This knowledge and exploration helps to then tailor therapy to your specific preferences and needs. We draw from a range of evidence-informed approaches to support the mind, body, and self with warmth, respect, and collaboration, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all method for each client.

Q: What if I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t feel helpful? A: You’re not alone in this experience. We believe the therapeutic relationship is a key part of the healing process, and sometimes the approach or fit wasn’t what you needed at the time. We invite open feedback and work collaboratively to ensure therapy feels supportive, attuned, and aligned with your needs. We also explore past therapy experiences in our sessions to ensure we are aware of what has or hasn't been helpful for you in the past.

Q: How do I know if therapy is working? A:Therapy isn’t always linear, but you may begin to notice shifts such as feeling more understood, gaining new awareness about patterns, feeling lighter or more grounded, or using tools and insights between sessions. We check in regularly and welcome your feedback so we can adjust our approach together and ensure therapy continues to feel supportive and meaningful, and that we are still aligned on the same goals.

Q: Will virtual sessions feel as personal or effective as in-person therapy? A: In short, yes! In our clinical experience, virtual therapy can be just as meaningful, connective, and effective as in-person work. We prioritize creating a warm, grounded space online, and many clients appreciate the comfort and flexibility of joining from home.

Q: What if my teen doesn’t want to come to therapy or isn’t sure what to say? A: This is very common. Teens often warm up once they feel safe, understood, and not pressured. We meet them where they are, build trust at their pace, and create space for them to express themselves in ways that feel comfortable. Sometimes that is through conversation, reflection, or more creative approaches.

Q: Do I need a diagnosis or referral to begin therapy? A: Nope! You do not need a diagnosis or a doctor’s referral to access psychotherapy. Many people come to therapy seeking clarity, growth, support, or a space to explore what they’re feeling. You are welcome here at any stage, and can feel free to reach out to us directly.
