Loreana La Civita, MPsy. R.P.

I'm so grateful you've taken a moment to be here.

Starting therapy can feel like stepping into the unknown, and it takes real courage to do so. Whether you’re feeling lost, disconnected, or simply wanting to grow, I offer a space that’s warm, curious, and honest. Together, we’ll explore the parts of your story that feel unclear and help you rediscover your own inner compass to guide you forward.

My Approach.

I work with adolescents and adults navigating a range of challenges, including:

  • Addictions

  • Anger and Emotion Regulation

  • Anxiety, Stress, and Depression

  • Complex Trauma

  • Disordered Eating and Body Image Concerns

  • Grief and Loss

  • Interpersonal Difficulties

  • Perfectionism

  • Neurodivergent Experiences (including ADHD, Autism Spectrum, and OCD)

  • Self-Esteem Struggles

My work is trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming, honouring the unique ways your brain processes, feels, and connects. I take time to understand your story and the contexts that shape your experiences so that therapy feels collaborative and supportive. My style is warm yet active; I bring compassion and understanding while gently challenging you to recognize patterns that may be holding you back. Together, we’ll build practical tools for coping in the moment and explore the deeper roots of your struggles to create lasting change.

My approach is integrative, meaning I draw from a variety of therapeutic frameworks, including: Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment-based and Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (E-CBT). This allows me to tailor each session to your unique needs and goals while grounding our work in evidence-based practice.

Background.

I hold a Master of Psychology degree from Adler Graduate Professional School and a Bachelor of Arts in Developmental Psychology from the University of Windsor. I have five years of clinical experience supporting individuals in therapy, along with earlier research experience examining body image and eating disorders among university students.

My own lived experience as a neurodivergent person deeply informs my approach to therapy. I understand the challenges of navigating a world not always built for different ways of thinking and feeling, and I strive to help clients find compassion and confidence in their authentic selves.

I maintain memberships with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and the Academy for Eating Disorders. I regularly attend trainings to keep my knowledge of eating disorders, neurodiversity, and trauma-informed care up to date with the latest evidence-based practices.

What to Expect.

In our first session, I’ll ask questions to better understand your situation, challenges, and goals for therapy. Together, we’ll identify what feels most important and create a plan to guide our work. Your values and priorities will always lead the process. If you’re feeling unsure where to start, I can help provide focus and containment, offering guidance and prompts in alignment with your goals. As therapy unfolds, we’ll explore patterns and emotions with openness and care, working collaboratively and at your pace. Over time, we’ll transform the patterns that keep you feeling stuck and build new ways of relating to yourself and others that feel more grounded, empowered, and fulfilling.

If you’re considering starting therapy, I welcome you to reach out for a free 15-minute consultation to see if we might be a good fit. Every journey begins from where we stand--I look forward to meeting you right where you are.
